Welcome to Manege Nieuw Amstelland, riding school.
Beautifully situated in the Amsterdamse Bos you will find Manege Nieuw Amstelland. We are open for riding lessons 7 days per week for all ages and levels of experience.
What do we offer?
Children (5 yrs – 18 yrs)
Groups lessons: from the age of 5 children may join the Pixie lessons. The lessons last 30 minutes and a parent/carer will be required to hold the pony and walk beside the child. From the age of 6 the children may join the beginners group (60 minutes). Once they are able to walk, trot (sitting and rising), steer and have a canter, all independently, the instructor will suggest they move up a level to a more advanced class.
When children have grown and have become too tall to ride our ponies, they join one of our junior horse riding lessons at an appropriate level.
Adults
Adults will start their lessons at Manege Nieuw Amstelland with one or several private lessons. After an initial assessment more experienced riders will be advised at which level they may join a group lesson or they may continue taking private lessons. Beginning riders will generally require a series of private lessons to be able to join the beginners group lesson. You can book private lessons in “de ruiter app”. Make sure you cancel the lesson 24 hours in advanced, otherwise you have to pay the lesson. If you have to cancel a group or private lesson, you can do that also in “de ruiter app”.
Riding in the Amsterdamse Bos
Our instructors take out their more advanced group lessons on rides in the Amsterdamse Bos on a regular basis weather permitting. Suitable advanced private clients may also be escorted on a hack out. New clients will be required to have a private lesson first so the instructor may assess their level of competence. We do not rent our horses to take out in the Amsterdamse Bos without an escort.

When receiving tuition when riding a privately owned horse fees are reduced by € 4,00.

For the beginning rider a one off special offer.
1 hour introductory lesson (30 minutes theory, 30 minutes riding lesson)
5 private lessons of 30 minutes each.
- All lessons to be paid for in advance.
- Appointments which have not been cancelled at least 24 hours in advance for whatever reason will be charged. You can only cancel lessons in “de ruiter app”.
- You ride at your own risk at all times.
The wearing of a safety hat when riding is mandatory.
Holidays
During most school holidays and on most bank holidays the lessons will take place as usual. If you are unable to attend you are required to cancel your lesson. During the summer holidays the children’s lessons are suspended. We do have pony camp weeks during those 6 weeks.
Pixy lessons for the little ones
The children’s beginners group lessons are for children from the age of 6 upward. For keen riders who cannot wait until then we now offer Pixy Lessons. These last 30 minutes instead of a full hour and mum or dad or another accompanying adult assists by leading the pony. In a playful manner the children will get familiar with the basics of riding and handling ponies.
Livery
The care of your own horse or pony is also in safe hands at Manege Nieuw Amstelland. All our staff are happy to be of service at all times. When your horse is stabled at our yard you get to join 4 group lessons each month for free.
Manege Nieuw Amstelland is also happy to assist when you wish to sell or purchase a horse.
